Working with Tables

Go to Insert > Table

Mouse over the number of columns and rows you want in your table.  If you don't know how many you will need you can always add more columns and rows later.

A Table Tools tab appears with a Design tab and  Layout tab below.
  • Design refers to the look of the overall table.  Go here to change borders and add shading.
  • Layout changes cell height, width, alignment, etc.
Assignment:  Create a table that has four columns and seven rows: Create the table example. Identify five of your favorite TV shows, fill in the appropriate information.
  • The Main title is in all caps and bold. You can make this font bigger than the rest.
  • Left/Vertically center all the headings.
  • Left align the column data. You may center the "channel" if you wish.
Use the following tools:
  • Align...see above for specific requirements.
  • Border...change any of the borders.
  • Shading Color...at least change the main title and column headings rows.
  • Change Text Direction to the text in the first column so that it's on it's side facing the rest of the table.

Insert a header with your name. Print in color.
