Monthly Calendar - Table

Choose a month in 2018

Open a new Word document.
Change the page to landscape: Page Layout > Orientation > Landscape.
Change margins to narrow
Auto fit to window
Use Distribute rows and columns

Create a table to represent the month.
  • First row: Name of month 2018 (March 2018). You may choose which ever month you would like your calendar to be.  Make this row large and color the background.
  • Second row: Days of the week; center the text vertically and horizontally in the middle of the cell.
  • Other rows: Weeks in the month. The weeks must be the same size (use the Distribute Rows feature)
  • Include ten (10) holidays/events with ten (10) graphics. Use either "tight" or "behind text" for text wrapping.
  • If shading a cell where a graphic will be placed, shade first, then insert graphic. If you have trouble selecting the graphic, go to the home tab, click on "Select" > "Select objects." (Look on the right.)
To find holidays that take place in the month you chose, go to www.holidayinsights.com
Be sure the table is centered vertically and horizontally. Print in color

For best grade pay attention to details and go beyond the basics.  Use color and use repetition with your color in backgrounds related to the month, on borders, on text.  Change cell margins for the number so they are not on top of the borders.  Be consistent with placement of text and images as much as possible.  If it looks like you threw it together - you will get a lower grade.  If you have time left over in class, ask yourself what else could you do with your project then enhance it with text effects, more images, etc. but be sure it still looks good and useful.

40 points.
