ASCII Art for Beginners or Winter Scene

ASCII art is when you replace and image with a pattern of text, numbers or symbols.

  1. Find a picture that you would like to use as basis for your art.  Use a single image with a recognizable shape.  So when we delete the image and only the shape of the image is left, we will recognize the shape.  I recommend in Google, use your Search Tools: Choose Clip Art and Large size.  Save the file.
  2. Launch Word. Open the Design ribbon and add a watermark of the picture you chose. Also, I recommend you add a Page Border.
  3. Type over it with appropriate letters.  You can pick a variety of letters. This would provide more depth.
  4. Use the Format Painter tool on the Home ribbon to copy color and style.
  5. Delete the watermark.
  6. Key your name somewhere on the art.  Save and print!

==================================================

Just like the turkeys you created for Thanksgiving, your 2nd option is to create a winter scene using the drawing tools in Word.
  1. You can choose to draw whatever reminds you of winter or any upcoming holiday like Valentine's Day.
  2. For this one, you are only allowed to use ONE image from the internet and/or clipart. Everything else must be drawn using the tools.
  3. You MUST include the following to receive full credit:
    1. Name of winter scene using WordArt. Ex: Winter Wonderland, Frosty the Snowman, etc.
    2. Fill colors
    3. Gradient fill
    4. 3D
    5. Shadow
    6. Basic Shapes
    7. Callout (including a message)
    8. Border
    9. Background
    10. Your name typed in a text box in the lower right corner
  4. Save this as Winter Scene in your Word Processing folder.
  5. If you finish early, you may play any of the approved typing games.
